TARRAGONA IN ROMAN TIMES TO RETURN ACTIVITIES  

15.- The necropolis

Objectives:

  To understand Roman funerary rituals.

  To study some items of the museum.

  To appreciate the huge role of the Necropolis of Tarraco.


Curricular area:

Knowledge of the social and cultural environment.

Social Sciences.

Classical Culture.


Place: The Museum of the Necropolis.

Level: From 10 to 16 years old students.

Time: School year.

Activity:
Type: Work “in situ”.
Description:

We start by working on the funerary rituals and the types of burials in the Roman Age, in a collective way. Then, students individually analyse some of the items in the museum, which characterized the world of death: sarcophagus, offerings, altars, lids, and Christian symbols.

Material:

Dossier for students and teachers.

Time: 1,30 hours.
Means of transport: On foot.

Observations:

This activity can be carried out only by 25 student, since the precinct is very small. It has been designed to be autonomous.
