26.- Hypolit’s sarcophagus

Objectives:

  To understand the value of a myth in oral and written communication.

  To identify the main characteristics of the myth.

  To pay attention to the main elements of sculptural masterpieces.


Curricular area:

Social Sciences. Classical Culture. History of Art. Technology.


Place: Hypolit’s room in the Praetorium.

Level: From 8 to 16 years old students.

Time: School year.

Activity:
Type: Oral explanation and autonomous work.
Description:

The study of the sarcophagus permits to work on two aspects: the former, sculptural work (analysis of the material, resources, and techniques) and the latter, the iconographic reading of the myth.

Material:

A scale model on the sarcophagus, tools, minerals, scale model relieves...

Time: A morning session.
Means of transport: By Bus.

Observations:
