TARRAGONA IN ROMAN TIMES TO RETURN ACTIVITIES  

3.- Tarraco, a Roman city

Objectives:

  To know the Roman World by means of the remainders of that period in Tarragona and understand the world formed by our cultural inheritance.

  To work many aspects of the culture and Roman daily life.

  To understand the role of cities in the Roman world.

Art.


Place: At school and in Tarragona. We visit the most important remains of Tarragona in the Roman Age.

Level: 10-11 years old pupils

Work “in situ” and classroom activities.

Description:

It is focussed on identifying the remains of Tarraco, overlaying the old city on the new one and know the basic features which formed Roman life in general, and specially, Tarraco in the II century. The material to work “in situ”, with autonomous activities for the teachers. Make it possible to visit the Roman rests preserved in the Camp of Tarragona. Then, there is such a wide range of visits that the teacher will have to put a cross next to the favourite ones.. For one day visits, the CdA proposes: MNAT, the amphitheatre, the fortress, the Praetorium and the circus.

Material:

Worksheets, Didactic Guide, Supporting materials.

Time: 1-5 days.
Means of transport: At school and travel by foot.

Observations

CdA activities imply a set of activities to be performed before the ones in the Camp, and following-up activities, to be carried up after the visit. This program unit is designed to be an autonomous.
